Sunday mass with Fr.Reuben

On Sunday, November 3, the Sedes community warmly welcomed back Rev. Fr. Reuben Ojochenemi Ocheni, an alumnus (2023) from the Diocese of Idah, Nigeria. Fr. Reuben presided over the Holy Mass for the 31st Sunday in Ordinary Time, which was also a thanksgiving celebration for his recent ordination.

Fr. Reuben’s homily focused on the essential Christian principles of loving God and our neighbours, themes highlighted in the readings of the day. Drawing from the Gospel and the first reading, he emphasized that our journey toward heaven is intricately tied to how we live out this love in our immediate relationships. He urged each of us to reflect on how we treat those in our community, stating: “If we do not love them, then we miss our way to heaven.”

After Mass, he joined the community for breakfast, where he shared moments of connection with students and formators. His visit inspired us all to foster love within our community, and we were grateful for his return and his uplifting example. He left for Venice, where he is pursuing Master’s in Canon Law.
